Since my E28 is an conversion from auto to manual, I’m crawling under it today to figure out what transmission it has. I’ll throw it out here with the best picture I could get before raising it.

What say you, oppo hive mind?

UPDATE

Enhance!

Kinja'd!!!

The VIN in clear, and shows an 1987 535 with a manual transmission . Couldn’t get a good picture of the stamping, but it is 260 0 13 02 91. So it is a Getrag 260.

One mystery solved.  Many more awaiting.

Binmerforuns might be a better resource for this one if you have no luck here.

Its a gretrag 260 of some kind. There’s a casting stamp fore of the slave cylinder mount. If you have a single piece bellhousing then it is for sure not a 265

Kinja'd!!!

Technically there should be a vin tag but someone probably took it off.

We can’t just assume it identifies as a transmission. It might want to be a headlight.

(I know nothing about BMW transmissions so cannot provide any useful input)
